We are happy to invite you to our 8th Conference of Applied Hygiene, Microbiology and Virology. After the very successful first hybrid edition in 2021, which impressed again with outstanding presentations and attracted more than 100 international participants from 22 countries, we are now inviting you to this year's conference. On October 22nd, the anniversary celebration for the 15th anniversary of the association "tat für tat Malawi e.V." will take place on our company premises in Hamburg-Hummelsbüttel.  You can expect a colorful program with music, food & drink as well as a vernissage with an auction of works of various artists. Furthermore, you can of course learn everything about the association and the cooperation with the House of Hope in Malawi.

Prof. Dr. med. Ewa Stürmer has won this year's Hygiene Prize of the Rudolf Schülke Foundation with her work "Comparative analysis of biofilm models to determine the efficacy of antimicrobials" (you can find the publication HERE).

The research project was funded by the Initiative Chronische Wunde ICW e.V. and carried out in cooperation with Professor Stürmer in our Hamburg laboratories. This project would thus be awarded the Hygiene Prize of the Rudolf Schülke Foundation.

Part of the project was also to establish a procedure that can be routinely performed in the laboratory. This was also successful. So if you are interested in the novel model, please feel free to contact us. 

On April 12th, 2022, the German Association of Independent Testing Laboratories (VUP) established the Project Group Efficacy Testing of Antimicrobial Products. Dr. Claudia Hildebrandt, Prof. Dr. Katrin Steinhauer and Dr. Henrik Gabriel were elected to the board. In a keynote speech, we introduced the topic and possible fields of action. Important topics to be worked on in the project group include method development and standardization, knowledge transfer and exchange of experience, accreditation requirements and quality assurance through interlaboratory comparisons and comparative measurements. The project group offers the participants the opportunity to quickly exchange information and data in a dialog. In consultation with all parties, the further procedure is now being concretized. The relevant information for the new project group has been published on the VUP website and member platform MyVUPortal. The presentations and the minutes of the founding meeting will also be made available there shortly.

This year's 16th Congress of Hospital Hygiene will take place from 01 to 04 May 2022 as a hybrid event. Also this year we are represented with some lectures.

The staff of Dr. Brill has diligently collected donations. They collected 843.43 €, which the company doubled. Half of the donations went to the account of "Aktion Deutschland Hilft" and half to "Hanseatic Help". We would like to thank all employees!

On behalf of the German Federal Environment Agency (UBA), the Institute for Antifouling and Biocorrosion of Dr. Brill + Partner GmbH has worked on a research project in cooperation with Hydrotox GmbH to develop award criteria for an eco-label (Blue Angel) for biocide-free antifouling products.

Our Institute for Antifouling and Biocorrosion on Norderney has changed the location at the Norderney harbor by a few hundred meters. 

The new address is: Am Hafen 6, DE - 26548 Norderney.

The colleagues can now keep an eye on the ship traffic but also on the test objects at any time and are even closer to the fresh seawater for tests in the aquariums or for the current development of the "Mini-RotoMarin".
